Home of the Brave Park in Symmes Township is one of our favorites, and during a recent outing there, I noticed what appeared to be a brand-new playground just across the street. Located literally just right across Lebanon Road, Symmes Township Park is one of our best finds yet. This park had a recent makeover that rivals Summit or Smale – and it’s become a weekly member of our playground rotation!
The playground I’m referring to can be seen from the road – it’s the first playground off the driveway, with the parking lot on the left. There’s a nice bathroom just off the parking lot, with drinking fountains you can see from the playground. To the right of the parking lot is a covered picnic shelter with lots of seating.
The playground itself is phenomenal.
Green turf everywhere; lots of ropes, bridges, steps and structures to climb; slides; spinners; and even a zip line!
What’s great about this playground is the scale of it – everything is kid-sized for preschoolers and younger, elementary-aged kids. For example, there’s a rock wall, but it’s only about 6 feet tall, making it easy for a 4-year-old kid to navigate!
The new Symmes Township Playground very similar to the main play area at Summit Park – but even more little kid friendly. Even little cruisers have lots of options at this new playground – and with the soft turf, it’s the perfect space for toddlers!
Even the zip line is designed for kids – the seat is low to the ground, and there’s sand underneath for a soft landing. (Full disclosure: my kids have brought trucks to play with in this area). And the zip line goes just fast enough for little kids to enjoy, but nothing too crazy.
Symmes Township Park will easily keep your kids entertained for a morning or afternoon this summer – and I promise they’ll be asking when you can come back! Definitely check it out — and afterwards, head over to the splash pad across the street at Home of the Brave and make a summer day of it!
